Fırat University Institute of Science, Environmental Engineering Department program has started to provide Thesis Master's and PhD education since 1989.
Students who successfully complete the Master's program with a thesis are entitled to receive a Master's Degree (Science) in the field of Environmental Engineering USA Environmental Engineering Master's Program. There are no special admission requirements for this program. You can review the Fırat University Regulations/Guidelines page from the General Admission Conditions regarding admission and registration to the program. Students who graduate from this program can apply to study in doctoral programs. To receive the degree / complete the program, it is necessary to take courses from the announced graduate course program for 60 ECTS credits and complete these courses successfully. Following the completion of the course phase, the thesis must be completed and submitted on a subject to be determined under the supervision of the faculty advisor. In addition, the student whose thesis is accepted is required to successfully present his/her work in front of the jury to be appointed orally. The working areas of graduates can be listed as drinking water and wastewater facility design and operation, solid waste and hazardous waste collection and disposal, air pollution control, pollution control, and their sub-branches. Graduates can work in public and private institutions and organizations or start their own businesses. There is at least one midterm one final exam and a make-up exam for those who cannot pass the final exam.

Admission requirements for the PhD program: Those who apply with a master's degree must have at least; the score type of the program, it is required to get 55 points from standard ALES and YDS (ÜDS related to the field) or equivalent exams and to have a master's degree graduation grade average of 75/100. • Evaluation: It is calculated by taking 50% of the ALES score, 20% of the master's degree graduation grade, 20% of the YDS or equivalent exam score, and 10% of the scientific evaluation exam. Candidates with scores of 70 and above are ranked and the main and reserve lists are determined. In the case of equality, priority is given to the candidate with the higher undergraduate graduation grade. The candidate must take the scientific evaluation written and oral exams to be held under the chairmanship of the relevant program/department. A candidate who does not take one of the exams is considered unsuccessful.
Graduation conditions of the Ph.D. program: In order to receive the degree / complete the program, it is necessary to take the courses from the postgraduate course program announced for 120 ECTS credits and the ÇMU 502 Doctoral Seminar course and successfully complete these courses. Following the completion of the course phase, one must be successful in the ÇMU 666 Doctoral Qualification exam. The thesis must be completed and submitted on a subject to be determined under the supervision of the faculty advisor. In addition, they are required to successfully present their work in front of a jury that will be appointed orally.
