Purpose:
The Elective Course Commission operates to determine, update, and present elective courses that will contribute to the professional and individual development of students in a way that is appropriate for student needs.
Duty Description and Responsibilities
Creating and Updating the Elective Course Pool:
Determining the course pool consisting of departmental and non-departmental elective courses, receiving new suggestions from faculty members, and regularly updating this pool.
Ensuring Curriculum Compliance:
Ensuring that elective courses are compatible with the undergraduate program course plan, ECTS load, and periodic distribution.
Analysis of Student Needs and Demands:
Considering students' academic interests and career goals, conducting analyses based on surveys, feedback, and registration data, and making course recommendations.
Determining Course Openability Criteria:
Ensuring that elective courses planned to be opened each semester are evaluated according to the number of lecturers, student interest, and infrastructure facilities, and that decisions are made regarding their openability.
Advisor Information:
To contribute to the academic advising process by providing advisor faculty members with information about the elective course pool, its content, and student orientations.
Following Course Content:
To ensure that elective course syllabi are up-to-date, original, and of a nature that will contribute to the department, make suggestions to faculty members for updating the content if necessary.
Coordination with the Faculty in the Course Opening Process:
To participate in the elective course planning processes carried out at the faculty level and to make suggestions on behalf of the department.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
To develop continuous improvement suggestions by monitoring the success status, faculty member feedback, and student satisfaction regarding the open elective courses.
