Purpose:
The Measurement and Evaluation Committee conducts studies to ensure that the learning outcomes of all courses in the department are measured with accurate and valid methods; to monitor the level of achievement of program outcomes and to provide data for continuous improvement processes within the framework of quality assurance.
Duty Description and Responsibilities
Monitoring Program and Course Outcomes:
To check whether the learning outcomes of each course are associated with program outcomes and to update these relationships periodically.
Review of Evaluation Methods:
To ensure that the measurement and evaluation methods (exam, homework, project, presentation, laboratory applications, etc.) used by faculty members are evaluated in terms of adequacy, diversity, and validity.
Checking the Compliance of Scoring and Rubrics:
Monitoring whether the recommended rubrics are used and making recommendations for the fair and consistent measurement of student performance.
Reporting Program Achievement Levels:
Conducting course-based contribution analyses and preparing reports to monitor the level at which program outcomes are achieved by students.
Survey and Feedback Processes:
Supporting evaluation processes by correlating feedback received from students, graduates, and employers with the measurement-evaluation system.
Monitoring and Continuous Improvement:
Identifying weaknesses by analyzing course evaluation reports and presenting improvement suggestions for course/teaching methods.
Supporting Quality and Accreditation Processes:
Ensuring the preparation and documentation of measurement-evaluation data for MÜDEK and similar accreditation systems.
Education and Information:
Organizing information meetings or seminars for faculty members on measurement-evaluation principles, rubric preparation, and output-based evaluation.
Exam Security and Ethics Monitoring:
To encourage compliance with academic ethical principles in assessment processes and to contribute to exam security practices.
Archiving of Documents:
To ensure that learning outcome analyses, contribution matrices, and periodic assessment reports are regularly archived.
