Purpose:
The Adaptation Committee is responsible for evaluating the course equivalences of students coming from different higher education institutions with horizontal transfer, vertical transfer, double major, minor, or special student status regarding their previous education and determining appropriate course adaptations.
Duty Description and Responsibilities
Application Evaluation:
To examine horizontal transfer, vertical transfer (DGS), double major, minor, and special student applications in terms of compliance with the departmental course program and university legislation.
Determination of Course Equivalences:
To compare the courses taken by the applicant student at the previous institution with the departmental curriculum in terms of content and credits, and to evaluate equivalence.
Preparation of Adaptation Table:
To prepare and submit for approval the official adaptation table regarding which courses students will be exempted from and which courses they must retake.
Compliance with University and YÖK Legislation:
Ensuring that all adaptation procedures are carried out by YÖK, ÖSYM, and university regulations.
Support for Advisor Assignment Process:
Supporting the process of assigning suitable advisors to newly adapted students and informing advisors about the adaptation process.
Reviewing Previous Term Success Status:
Reviewing the applicant's previous term transcripts, grading systems, and course contents in detail.
Formalization of Decisions:
Converting committee decisions into minutes and submitting them to the department board for approval, and ensuring that official correspondence is carried out.
Student Information:
Officially informing the student about which courses they are exempted from or need to retake as a result of adaptation procedures.
