Graduate
The Environmental Engineering Department of Firat University Institute of Science has been providing thesis-based master's and doctoral education since 1989.
Students who complete the thesis-based master's program are entitled to receive a Master's Degree (Science) in the Environmental Engineering Department of Environmental Engineering. There are no special admission requirements for this program. You can review the General Admission Requirements regarding admission and registration to the program on the Firat University Regulations/Directives page. Students who graduate from this program can apply to study in doctoral programs. To receive the degree / complete the program, it is necessary to take courses from the announced postgraduate course program worth 60 ECTS credits and complete these courses. Following the completion of the course phase, a thesis study should be prepared and submitted on a topic to be determined under the supervision of the advisor faculty member. In addition, the student whose thesis is accepted is required to successfully present his/her work orally before the appointed jury. The fields of work of graduates are drinking water and wastewater facility design and operation, solid waste and hazardous waste collection and disposal, air pollution control, and pollution control, and their sub-branches. Graduates can work in public and private institutions and organizations, or can start their own businesses. There is at least one midterm exam and one midterm exam, as well as a make-up exam for those who cannot pass the midterm exam.
Degree earned as a result of the doctoral program: 'Doctor' in Environmental Engineering
Admission requirements for the doctoral program: Applicants with a master's degree must score at least 55 points from the standard ALES and YDS (ÜDS related to the field) or equivalent exams in the program's score type and have a master's graduation grade point average of 75/100. Evaluation: It is calculated by taking 50% of the ALES grade, 20% of the master's graduation grade, 20% of the YDS or equivalent exam score, and 10% of the scientific evaluation exam. Candidates scoring 70 and above are ranked and the main and reserve lists are determined. In case of a tie, priority is given to the candidate with the higher undergraduate graduation grade. The candidate must take the scientific evaluation written and oral exams to be held by the relevant program/department head. Candidates who do not take one of the exams are considered unsuccessful.
Graduation requirements of the doctoral program: To receive the degree / complete the program, it is necessary to take the CMU 502 Doctoral Seminar course from the announced postgraduate course program for 120 ECTS credits and complete these courses. Following the completion of the course phase, it is necessary to pass the CMU 666 Doctoral Qualification Exam. A thesis study on a topic to be determined under the supervision of the advisor faculty member must be prepared and submitted. In addition, it is required to present the study successfully before the assigned jury.
Students have at least one midterm, one final exam, and a make-up exam for those who fail the final exam.
