The Bologna Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that the department’s educational activities are conducted by international standards, the outcome-based education approach, and the principles of transparency, as outlined in the Bologna Process. This includes coordinating the presentation of course syllabi, program outcomes, and ECTS credits in an up-to-date, consistent, and accessible manner.
Updating Course Information Packages (CIP):
At the beginning of each semester, update all course syllabi in the department to ensure they are in the Bologna format. Work with faculty members to revise any missing or inconsistent content.
Ensuring the Consistency of ECTS Calculations:
Verify that the ECTS credits, calculated based on the workload (in-class, assignments, exams, individual work, projects, etc.), are accurately and consistently calculated.
Aligning Program Competencies with Learning Outcomes:
Ensure that course learning outcomes are consistent with program competencies and that the contribution levels (ranging from 1 to 5) are clearly defined.
Data Entry into the Bologna Information System:
Ensure the regular update of the Bologna Information Package pages in the university’s automation system. Work in coordination with the relevant university unit.
Aligning Assessment and Evaluation Methods:
Ensure that the assessment and evaluation methods (midterms, assignments, finals, etc.) specified in the course syllabi are suitable for measuring learning outcomes and are varied.
Monitoring and Reporting:
Monitor the currency of Bologna outcomes and provide periodic reports to faculty/university quality committees. Offer suggestions for improvements.
Defining and Promoting Educational Objectives:
Ensure that the department’s educational objectives, program outcomes, and competency matrices are presented clearly to students and stakeholders.
Ensuring Consistency with the National Qualifications Framework:
Ensure that the department’s program competencies align with the Turkish Higher Education Qualifications Framework (TYYÇ).
Contributing to Quality Processes:
Ensure that Bologna process outcomes are consistent with quality evaluation mechanisms such as MÜDEK, FEDEK, and YÖKAK.
Informing Department Personnel:
Conduct informational activities for faculty members on Bologna outcomes, the ECTS system, and the writing of learning outcomes.
